A Look At Natural Head Lice Treatment

By Miranda Sweeney

If parents have discovered that one of the kids in the household has head lice, they should not panic. There are a number of things that they can do to remedy the situation. With an attention to detail and an effective natural head lice treatment plan, all should be well in the end. The infestations can soon be eliminated without any damage to the well-being of the children.

Parents should first determine how bad the infestation is. If there are just a few lice visible on the scalp, then they can usually be wiped out in a period of days. Sever infestations can present hundreds of lice at once, will generally require more immediate action. Individuals should not stop the prescribed treatment until each louse has been eradicated.

Men and women will want to begin by combing through the hair with a special thin-toothed devices a few times a day for two weeks. The comb will remove the adult lice and some of the eggs so that the infestation does not continue. As long as the comb is effective washed in soap and warm water after each episode, the eggs will be destroyed.

Olive oil is an ingredient that most people will have in the pantry at home. By using a few dollops of the oil and spreading it deeply into the hair, the eggs can be made infertile. Because only a small amount of olive oil will be needed, people should measure it carefully before they use it. After the treatment, the hair can be washed out with a good shampoo.

Mouthwash has also proven to be effective. Mouthwash can be added to the hair and then rubbed in. Mouthwash is effective at killing the bacteria in the mouth because it uses an alcohol base. This alcohol is the same ingredient that is so effective against parasites. The critters will be smothered and the entire head will be clear in no time at all. Mouthwash can be found at most convenience stores for reasonable prices.

Once the home treatment plan has been started, parents should closely examine the scalp each day to ensure that progress is being made. If there are the same number of critters that there were a week before, then something else will need to be tried. By switching up techniques, men and women can more readily eliminate the problem as quickly as possible.

The goal, of course, will be to get the kids back in school as soon as possible. In fact, many schools will not allow the children to return until the parasites have been wholly eliminated. This is done as a courtesy to the other students. This way, the other students will not have to deal with the condition in the weeks down the road.

In the end, treating a parasitic condition can at first seem scary. As long as parents ensure that the children are making progress, however, the critters and be eliminated rather quickly. The kids can return to their school within a few weeks and will not cause anyone else in the classroom to be affected.
