A Few Great Fresh Pumpkin Recipes

During the peak pumpkin season, there will be pumpkins all over the place. It is a very nutritious vegetable as it contains great measure of fiber and other vital nutrients. You could try so many different fresh pumpkin recipes and most of them are readily available on the internet.

You will find canned pumpkins every where through out the year but when you have the option, you should always opt for fresh harvest because its more nutritious. Most of the recipes are based on pumpkin puree and its not difficult to make at home. You could either just take the seeds out and then slick the pumpkin and chuck them in the oven for approximately thirty minutes. Once you take it out of the oven and it cools down, just peel of the skin and either hand mash them or blend it in the blender.

You can also make puree by peeling off the skin after de-seeding then cut it into cubes and place in a large pan of boiling water. Let it simmer until its tender then drain out the water and blend or mash it until it becomes pureed.

You can make fresh soup out of it and it tastes just divine. It is up to you whether you use vegetable or chicken stock in your soup and if you prefer it to be chunky, you can add vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onions or leek to add a bit more flavor and texture to your soup. You can add spices as well to give it more intense flavor.

Pumpkins can likewise be utilized for baking cakes and they also taste flavorful and you will get fond of its divine taste. Adding a few flavors like nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger or all spices could enhance the flavor even further because on its own, pumpkin could taste very mild sometimes.

Halloween is the season when pumpkins are found in abundance because more and more people buy them in order to carve shapes out of them. During that period you may find plenty of recipes on the internet. Whether you like it to be sweet or savory, there are loads of recipes available on the internet.

Pies and pancakes are also made out of pumpkins very commonly. Because most of these recipes would require pureed form of it so its best to make good amount of puree and then freeze it or put it in the fridge. It can be stored in the freezer for up to six weeks and in the fridge for about two weeks.

Its always healthy to use fresh ingredients in your cooking because there is no substitute for them. Only use jarred or tinned vegetables of this sort when they are not readily available in the market. The reason why tinned or jarred is not that brilliant in terms of taste is because such variety undergoes certain processes in order to increase their shelf life and it impacts their taste to a great extent.
