Texas BBQ For Dining Enjoyment

By Essie Osborn

The big state of Texas has some truly unique and satisfying foods to offer both residents and tourists. The Texas BBQ restaurants are some of the favorite stops for almost everyone with the satisfying and mouth-watering menu items they have for sale. These foods are not available in most other states and if they are, they do not have the same great texture and taste. Each region of this large state has their own specialties but the basics are pretty much the same.

Meats found at these south central stores include brisket, turkey, chicken, beef and pork ribs, sausage, and pork loin. The cuts are slow-cooked at the restaurant, often right in front of customers. The final results are very tender and appetizing. It is often sold by the pound so servings are geared to the individuals who are making the food purchases and allow for leftovers at the end of the meal.

Many food outlets have their own special brand of barbecue sauce. They may bottle it with their own distinct label and sell it to customers as they pay for their food. It is also served exclusively at that particular location.

There is a wide variety of side dishes served with these meats. They can include corn on the cob, creamed corn, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and more. They are usually also available in to go containers of single serving, pint and quart sizes for delicious and easy at-home or office meals. Condiments include the barbecue sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, and white bread slices.

Beverages can range from sweet iced tea, lemonade and bottled sodas to long necks and canned beer, often nestled on ice in galvanized tubs for customer convenience. Children and adults alike can later enjoy ice cream or thick country brownies or cobbler when their meal is finished.

Customers should not expect anything fancy when they eat at these restaurants. Plastic and paper cups, plates, flatware and napkins are the norm. One can expect to find the requisite roll of paper towels in the middle of each guest table for easy access. Takeout is readily available in Styrofoam or plastic containers for quick and easy meals at home. Many of these venues also offer casual catering options for their loyal customers' parties and other events.

There are several franchises based on this food concept. Many started out very small and became large chains worth millions of dollars over time. There are still many local establishments that residents flock to because of the great food and casual atmospheres. Ask town people where to find the best barbecue and they will be sure to point you in the right direction.

If you are searching for the perfect regional meal, look no further. These restaurants will make sure no one walks out of their doors hungry. Many customers will purchase extra just to make sure they have enough of this great food to last them for a few more days.
