How The Tanning Spray Provides An Alternative To Suntanning

By Haywood Hunter

Tanning spray is a product used to produce a fake tan. This means that it is a tan that has not been achieved by the sun. There are many salons who help their customers achieve a wonderful natural-looking tan by using a variety of products, and a couple of method of applying these products. Tanning spray is also available on the market for someone to use themselves.

Due to worries of skin diseases such as skin cancer, people are no longer very keen to tan in the sun for hours, or to use suntan beds that use artificial sun rays. Both the sun and the suntan beds produce Ultraviolet rays that are damaging to skin. With many high quality products on the market today, there is no need to expose your skin to harmful UV rays, as tanning spray products enable a tan that is just as good as those that can be attained by the sun or a sunbed. They do not streak or look unnatural.

Help from a professional at a beauty salon is often welcome. They usually use similar products and methods of application. You will be assisted by someone who is knowledgeable about the product, and who is able to effectively give you an all-over, good-looking tan with tanning spray.

You will feel as if you are in a shower when the tanning spray is being applied. It will come out of a similar nozzle, and will be used in a way that produces varying degrees of tan colors. Before you begin, you will need to specify the type of tan you would like. You can have a light tan, or you can choose a darker tan.

It is recommended that you find out all about the process before starting, as nobody will be accompanying you. The tanning spray product will be better applied if you follow a few guidelines. Remember that you may also need a few applications for a darker tan. For a light tan, usually one application is sufficient.

There are a few things that you can do to help the tanning spray process. The first is to remove all dead skin cells and dirt from the area to be tanned. A good sponge, or an exfoliating product is recommended. You can also apply moisturizer before you go to the salon (about an hour beforehand). A moisturizer will make your skin slightly sticky, which will help with the procedure. Afterward, however, find out if there is a lotion that you can buy to help maintain your tan, or find out which moisturizers can be used.

Remember that tanning spray used for coloring skin can stain clothing. You should therefore consider going bare, unless you have a bathing suit or underwear that you don't mind throwing away. A pair of cheap gloves helps to prevent orange palms after applying the tanning spray.

An excess amount of tanning spray can be gently rubbed off when the procedure has been completed. Ask staff at the salon about your feet, as these can be problem areas with self-tan products, as they can end up quite darkly tanned. In general, a salon will be able to provide you with a very natural-looking tan that will last for reasonable length of time.
