1 - Info vs. Fantastic Stories
As a pro self defense instructor, I am content to have so many females working out with us. In our orientation classes, I am going through some fast tools and give basic guidance which nearly always counters the what ladies have been told. Seek the facts about your private safety through information. Stories are exciting, fascinating, scary - but stories are dissimilar from info. Stories can include data, but stories are the micro-view. We need the macro-view.
What's actually happening where we live, work, or visit? Where are we able to get that? The media? The media tells stories that are specially picked, professionally produced, and edited.
The media offers a service, nonetheless it is not a public service. It is a private service driven by advertising. There's nothing wrong with this of course, it just skews reporting toward getting eyeballs on screens and paper - where they will also see the paid adverts.
2 - Not Hiding It, Just Not Talking About It...
Did you know that many entertainment districts with a lot of bars and restaurants are privately held, and assertive reporting on crime trends is discouraged? How is this done? With advertising greenbacks. Political influence. How often have celebrities and sportsmen gotten help "keeping it out of the papers?" The internet has certainly assisted in turning this around, but there is still picking and choosing going on.
Police reports are of course filed. They should be. Whether a stories desk does anything with a trend of several attacks against women at the hot spots is another thing.

3 - Personal Safety is about Knowledge, Behavior, and Tools.
The internet is a tremendous source of info, which drives information. These are some great, free tools that we share with our customers. Note - The internet is amazing for info , but creates some pitfalls with behaviour - which I'll cover in a later article, with Social Networks.

www.crimereports.com - This database includes criminality in the U.S, UK, and Canada. A 30 day history of crimes are available on the map, with the addresses, names, and pictures of registered sex offenders. This totally free resource includes a roll-up of tangible police reports, on a Google map-type format.
How often have you had to ask about the safeness of an area you're traveling to or when considering a move? Just asking around can provide you with an understanding of what is happening, but it's better to grasp what is happening.
Fast Background Investigation - Ever question whether a new pal, business associate, or neighbour has a record? Does something seem a bit "off" about somebody put in from of you? We do not recommend coughing up for any type of list or referral, because the paid services often prioritize companies that pay to be on the list .
Amazon is moving aggressively into home services, and the female demographic is a massive part of their multi-billion dollar enterprise. Do not squander your time calling places trying to find someone that has a brain in his head and didn't just get out of jail.
Source any service through an online source that has reviews . Get a quote or flat rate for easier work. Let any supplier know you can not wait to give a 5-star review for great work. (and they'll understand the flip side) Any visit should be planned, preferably earlier in the morning, and any service pro should have ID and present it before gaining access to your home. ?
