Hard shell types have already been matured which makes their shell hard to break. Even though the exterior is hard and tough, it has the guarantees of having a meat that is flavorful and firm. Shredder types have soft shells because of having recently been molted. Soft shelled ones are easy to eat but have a much lesser volume of meat.

Choose between males and females. Male and female lobsters have different sizes, textures and taste. It is important to change the newspapers and add more ice packs to ensure that they are still alive and the metabolism are still kept low.

Leave the bands on the claws. After buying it, do not remove the rubber bands not until you are planning to cook it.
