By Ryan Sanders

Deciding to cook for your friends at your place is a good way of cutting down costs. You will be able to eat and drink whatever you want as it is easy to prepare. You, therefore, need to prepare adequately to be able to cook the best meals. If you have never done this before, here are tips for holding a private cooking party.

You have to decide on what you want to cook for your friends or the people you have invited. This, however, can be tricky sometimes as there might be dishes other people do not eat. To make it more interesting, prepare a variety so that one can have whatever they feel like. If the individuals are closer to you, you know what they love to eat hence it will be easy.

Get to know the items that you will require. You need to note them down so that you do not forget any of them. For this to become easy, look at the recipes and then note somewhere the ingredients. Set some time aside to acquire all the ingredients when you still have enough time to avoid last minute rush or incurring more costs.

Get to know the number of people that will be present. As everybody may be engaged in the kitchen, get to know the number to plan effectively for the activities that will take place. Engaging with them is a good way for you to learn a lot about your friends as you can share a lot. Decide whether the guest may be cooking in groups or you will do it collectively.

You also need to prepare and assign different duties to the guests who will be available. The preparation may involve the making of the dessert, setting up tables, washing dishes and so on. It is good you assign duties to avoid confusion or small misunderstandings that may arise. Come up with a suggestion on involvement that will ensure all tasks are finished in good time. Decide on simple recipes that do not require much time for preparation.

Organize how all of the activities which will take place should be conducted. Consider coming up with small teams that will do different tasks. You can select or let everybody group themselves according to their comfort. Let the guests go through the recipe for them to decide which team they want to be a part of. All of the equipment that may be used should be readily available to avoid any inconveniences.

Allow for creativity. It is not a must that the recipe you have come up with being followed to the later. Some people might have good ideas they can add to the activity making it more interesting. You never know as the meal might turn out to be tastier than what you were expecting.

When each dish has been cooked, let everybody sit at the table and enjoy the meals. Ask some of your guests to bring wine with them for enjoyment. Also, if you do not have enough cutlery, let your friends bring theirs. Whenever there is fresh produce that should be used, ensure washing them.
