The American Food Network Rise

This is a basic cable and satellite television channel that was operates both in the and other parts of the world airing food and cooking related programs . It was among the first international television channels that had programs related to cooking. The American Food Network has been having an increasing viewing and by 2015 America alone had over 96 million viewers.

With its formation in the early 90s, it had its original name changed from the TV Food Network to their current name. There are two groups which own this channel; Scripps Network Interactive, which owns 70% and being responsible for managing the day to day activities of the channel and 30% by Tribune Cable Venture.

Bing acutely aware of the different audience they are serving, the programs aired by Food Network is categorized into two on the time of airing. During the day, the programs offered are known as the food network in the kitchen which mainly deals with cooking tutorials from chefs. At night, we have the Night time show which is a collection of entertainment food programs that are food related.

For the programs that are aired during the days, the viewers can sharpen their cooking skills through being given tips by respected chefs who host these programs. Recipes of different kinds of foreign foods are always showcased. This enables their viewers to have a taste of other cultures.

Apart from learning of different recipes, there are programs which teach on local ingredients. Through these skilled chefs, the viewers are impacted with new skills of preparing their shared meals, which they have been eating for many parts of their lives, using different approaches hence making them more appetizing.

The management had studied their market and realized that most of the viewers are not into their programs because of wanting to be good cooks but for the fun of watching the cooking done by the experienced chefs. Therefore, the management opted to increase the number of programs that were mainly for entertainment but still food related.

Cooking competition programs have led the ranks of the entertainment programs on Food Network. These programs are very competitive with the winner receiving a grand prize. Several cooks are made to compete by preparing a meal using given ingredients over a given time span with the judges there ready to determine who is the best.

Since the competition programs are the bestselling, their number has steadily been on the rise with 2 in 2005 to 16 in 2015. Programs like this, Star Guy, Guys Grocery Games just naming a few have continued to add more fans with time. This has increased the market for the channel hence increasing the annual profits that are made making it the most profitable channel.

This is mainly attributed to their daily increased viewers who have been attracted more to this channel since the introduction of reality show and documentaries on food and cooking. Their product extension programs have also enhanced their continued market which has always been sky rocketed. One of them is the developing of a video game for their young fans and also having other sister channels.
