Where To Find Good Fresh Fish Hawaii

By Frank Gray

The term ahi is the one that is used most commonly in the Hawaiin culture to refer to both the bigeye tuna as well as the yellowfin tuna, which are two of their big fishing focuses whenever people are looking for aquatic life out on the ocean. This is a name that means fire in the English language. This is a term that has been used for thousands of years to describe a delicious type of fresh fish Hawaii.

The true fisherman will know the exact right places to look in order to find this aquatic life that people love to eat. It is well known that adult bigeye tunas like to hang out at the bottom, where they do their feeding. That is why a lot of big fishing outfits who usually focus on these as well as the yellowfin tuna, will send their lures all the way down there to get the mature specimens.

There are many factors that go into what makes a person decide to favor a certain type of seafood as opposed to another. It is all a matter of taste as they say, and the different species can make a lot of difference. Some people can't tell the difference between bigeye or yellowfish, but the real connoisseur might turn her nose up to one or the other.

Some people do care for sea food, but just do not exactly like that "fishy" taste. This can be a problem for people who want to enjoy the health benefits of this kind of food but can't get over that taste. Luckily there is the light and easy albacore, which although having more fat and oil around these islands, is still quite good for you.

The swordfish is not only a totally awesome sea creature that kids across the world believe can participate in sword fights because of cartoons they have seen, it is also quite delicious. They can be found in most of the oceans in the world, but the Hawaiin ones are bigger than most. It is a great idea to try it if you never have because all of the locals love it.

Marlin is also a species that is caught a lot in this area and is eaten and sold in markets quite regularly, so it will not be difficult to find. They come in a couple of different varieties, one of them being the striped marlin. Known for its beautiful colors and stripes, this is not the biggest type of marlin to be caught but has a great flavor.

The blue marlin's traditional name is kajiki. It gets its name from the beautiful blue hue of its scales. Known for being similar in taste to the other marlins that are caught around here, it still tastes just a bit different.

If you are looking for where to find the sometimes quite elusive shortbill spearfish, you might check in the areas around boueys as well as in areas of shallow water. This is where these, also called hebi, like to spend a lot of their time. While they are much smaller than a lot of the other billfish who they are related to, they taste rather the same.
